The drive from a Gateway85 distribution building to a mill conversion in Belmont is short, and the roofs could not be more different. We work from Gastonia, NC across Gaston County, into York County, South Carolina, and east toward Charlotte along I-85, where Charlotte sits about 21 miles away. The weather is shared, but the buildings are not, so each town gets its own reading of what the roofs need.

Start in the City and Its Industrial Edge

The city of Gastonia holds Parkdale Mills, Wix Filtration, Freightliner and Stabilus, and the FUSE District downtown is a 16-acre redevelopment next to Loray Mill. Along I-85 sit Gateway85 and the Gastonia Technology Park, large flat roofs that need drainage and seam attention.

Cover the Mill Towns Along the River

Belmont put up close to twenty mills before 1930, and a good number have since been demolished or reworked, while its Downtown Historic District holds 264 buildings from 1850 to 1949. Parkdale Mills runs two plants and a research center there. Mount Holly is home to American & Efird's plants and offices, a Freightliner truck plant and a National Gypsum wallboard plant, plus the Mount Holly Cotton Mill begun in 1875. Freight rail runs along Wilkinson Boulevard through Belmont, Lowell and Cramerton, and we read each roof in those towns one at a time.

Reach West and North Into the County

West of the city, Bessemer City is the nearest town to SouthRidge Business Park, 425 acres of distribution and manufacturing space a mile north of I-85. Kings Mountain has a 2.91-acre National Guard property. On any distribution or manufacturing roof, the first questions are drainage and edge metal, and we check both before pricing anything else.

Cross the State Line Into South Carolina

York County towns such as Rock Hill, Fort Mill and Clover sit in the southern part of the service area. Rock Hill's average July high is 91 F, with a 106 F record and about 42.6 inches of rain a year, which puts the same heat and ponding pressure on a flat roof that Gastonia sees.

Work the Charlotte Corridor

The I-485 loop ties the Paw Creek and Pineville commercial areas back to I-85, and West Charlotte and Pineville sit on the metro side of the corridor. Charlotte has hit 104 F, a December 2002 ice storm left over 1.3 million people dark, and Hugo's 87 mph gusts arrived in 1989, so wind, heat and ice all belong in the scope.

Commercial Roofing Questions

How far do you travel for a roof?

Do you handle emergency calls outside Gastonia?

Emergency response runs around the clock across the service area, holidays included.

Do you work on both sides of the state line?

Yes. We work in Gaston County, North Carolina and York County, South Carolina.
